I read an article the other day about Easy vs. Hard that struck a nerve with me. The author was relating how … bad is easy – good is hard … losing is easy – winning is hard … talking is easy – listening is hard. She had numerous comparisons of Easy vs. Hard and I thought I would share some of them with you because the examples will really make you think.
Arguing is easy. Negotiating is hard.
Play is easy. Work is hard.
Giving advice is easy. Taking advice is hard.
Falling is easy. Getting up is hard.
Cowardice is easy. Bravery is hard.
Borrowing is easy. Paying back is hard.
Poor is easy. Rich is hard.
Lying is easy. Truth is hard.
War is easy. Peace is hard.
Sarcasm is easy. Sincerity is hard.
Criticizing is easy. Taking criticism is hard.
Following is easy. Leading is hard.
Eating is easy. Dieting is hard.
Holding a grudge is easy. Forgiving is hard.
I believe success comes to those people who learn how to do the hard things. They accept them for what they are – difficulties they must handle if they plan on being successful. It is easier to win when you are prepared. Negotiating is simpler when you are open-minded. Peace makes more sense when you understand the ravages of war. Telling the truth is better when you have seen the damage lying will do to a reputation. If you believe criticizing others is helpful, then why shouldn’t it be helpful when they criticize you?
Those who “HANDLE THE HARD” deserve the rewards it brings. This is what separates the winners from the losers. So, take a different perspective when you encounter life’s difficult tasks … start appreciating what you are about to accomplish.
Realize that by taking on the Hard Tasks you are
about to become better, improve your position, or refine your skills …
and there is nothing ever wrong with that.
